Solar salt is the one obtained after evaporation of sea water. It contains 85% as sodium chloride, and is available in solid crystal form. This salt is a bit more soluble compared to the other salts
This salt is obtained from underground through mining, and moisture is evaporated using energy from natural gas or coal. This salt contains around 99% of sodium chloride. When this salt is used in the softeners, the maintenance is low and doesn’t need to clean the tanks frequently. However, the cost of maintenance is high as evaporated salts are costlier compared to the other two salts.
There are certain softeners that combine the salts mentioned to provide better results. However, that cannot be done for all softeners. The tanks need to be empty before changing the salt type depending on the softening quality and the user requirement.
